CURO'R COBLYN, PWLLHELI - 5KM & 5M
CURO’r Coblyn in Pwllheli is a community running event held as part of the Hwyl Yr Wyl festivities weekend. The event offers two distances:
- 5KM
- 5 Mile
Both routes are described as fast and flat and run along coastal sections that provide views across Cardigan Bay towards Eryri, past Pwllheli harbour and along the Llŷn Peninsula towards St Tudwal’s Islands. The event starts and finishes at West End Parade, Pwllheli.
Race arrangements include a fully marked and marshalled course, trained first aid provision, a race headquarters and an event village as part of the wider festival. There is a water station around the halfway point of each route. Every finisher receives a unique Curo’r Coblyn medal; finishers aged 18 and over are offered mulled wine in the event village and all finishers are offered a mince pie and a festive treat.
The event is organised by Hwyl Yr Wyl with StrongHer Dwyfor involved in delivery. Entry options note minimum ages of 12 for the 5KM and 14 for the 5 Mile, with published entry fees for each distance. A prize is offered for every runner who beats the mystery “Coblyn” in each race; the Coblyn’s identity is kept secret until after the finish. Proceeds support local community events and activities.
