Curfew Fun Run
The Curfew Fun Run is a community running event held in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The course covers a distance of 1.28 miles and takes participants around the historic Elizabethan Walls of the town. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
One of the central features of the event involves the Berwick Bell Ringers. Participants attempt to complete the course before the Curfew Bell finishes tolling, which takes approximately 13 minutes. While the bells are rung for the duration of the run, external factors such as weather conditions or noise from the crowds can sometimes affect how clearly the bells are heard on the route.
The event is organized into two primary participation categories based on age:
- 12 years and under
- 13 years and over
Specific safety requirements are in place for younger participants. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied throughout the run by an adult who is also registered for the event. Registration is available for individual children, families, and adult runners. While the event takes place on a specific date in July, the organizer provides an entry limit of 175 places in total across the categories. If the participation cap has not been reached through advance registration, limited entries may be available on the evening of the event.
