The 69th Chevy Chase
The event is a 20-mile mountain route in Northumberland that follows tracks, footpaths, sheep paths and rough fell, with only a short section on road. The route is unmarked; competitors must visit manned checkpoints in the correct order and navigate by map and compass if low cloud occurs. The course summits Cheviot at 2676 feet / 815 m and Hedgehope at 2348 feet / 714 m.
Both runners and walkers may enter. The event includes a Chevy Chase Challenge Walk that uses the same route, is non-competitive with no prizes, and has checkpoint times recorded. Time limits apply: the walk has a 7-hour limit and the run has a 6-hour limit. Entrants must be at least 18 years old and be fit and sure footed for upland terrain and changeable weather.
Entries are limited to 300 places with a waiting list used if the limit is reached. Entry fee is £30.00. T‑shirts are available at entry for £10.00 and must be ordered and paid for at the point of entry. ARC safety standards will apply. The organiser is Wooler Running Club and the listed event location is Wooler Youth Hostel in Northumberland. Entries open 1 February 2026 and close 1 July 2026.
