Chevy Chase

The Chevy Chase is a challenging 20-mile race held in Northumberland, starting and finishing at Wooler Youth Hostel. Participants traverse some of the region's finest upland scenery, including summits of Cheviot (815m) and Hedgehope (714m). The unmarked course allows runners and walkers to choose their own paths between manned checkpoints, crossing tracks, footpaths, and rough fell terrain, with only a short road section.

The event demands fitness, sure-footedness, and navigation skills using map and compass due to variable weather and possible low cloud. In 2025, a new non-competitive Challenge Walk option was introduced, sharing the same route but with a 7-hour time limit.
