Cupcake Run/Walk for Public Education : West Lafayette
The Cupcake Run/Walk is an annual community event held in West Lafayette that benefits the Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County. The event includes multiple distances and a virtual option, and it supports grants for classroom innovation in academics and the arts.
Distances offered:
- 5K
- 10K
- 80 yards Kids Run
- Virtual Challenge
Registration fees listed for 2026 are $23 for the 5K and 10K, $8 for the Kids Run, and $25 for the Virtual Challenge. The virtual option allows participants to run or walk when and where they choose, with results uploaded between September 22 and September 30; event swag is mailed or hand-delivered.
The event provides team-based fundraising: for every ten-member team, $100 is provided to a sponsored school to purchase recess and P.E. equipment. Teams are registered with a captain and may select a school to sponsor. A contest for the fastest teachers is held for both the 5K and 10K, with recognition for the fastest male and female teacher in each distance.
Shirt color choices are offered each year; two featured participant shirt colors are available and volunteers receive a distinct volunteer shirt color. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at the Mary Lou Donuts parking lot in Lafayette. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
