Cumberland Valley TrailFest
Cumberland Valley TrailFest is the 20th annual festival held at Shippensburg Station on the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Events take place along the paved rail trail between Shippensburg and Newville and include running, hiking and a non‑competitive bike ride.
Available distances and event types:
- Half Marathon
- 5k Run
- 10 mile Hike
- 25 mile Bike Ride
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (free for kids from 1 to 100)
The half marathon and 5k use out and back courses that begin and end at Shippensburg Station. The 25 mile bike ride follows the finished length of the rail trail to Greenhill Road and back; a shorter option is available by turning at the Newville trailhead. The long hike follows the trail from Newville to Shippensburg with transportation provided to the Newville trailhead for those who pre-register.
Registrations for paid events include one complimentary craft beer, craft soda or wine and an event t-shirt, except the free 1 mile. Individual drink glasses are available for purchase. There is a beer garden, live music and food trucks on site. Proceeds benefit the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council and support trail maintenance, trail extension efforts, and the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum.
