Cumberland Valley TrailFest
The Cumberland Valley TrailFest is an annual festival of trail events hosted at Shippensburg Station, at the corner of Fort and Earl Streets in Shippensburg. All events use the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail and traverse nearly 13 miles of completed rail-trail between Shippensburg and Newville. The main running event is an out-and-back half marathon that starts and ends at Shippensburg Station.
Event options include:
- Half Marathon out-and-back on the rail trail.
- 5k Run on the rail trail.
- 10 mile Hike from Newville to Shippensburg with arranged transportation if pre-registered.
- 25 mile Bike Ride out-and-back on the finished trail.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk free for kids from 1 to 100.
Registrants for paid events receive one complimentary craft beer, craft soda, or wine and a free event t-shirt; individual beverage glasses are also available for purchase. CVRTC, Castlerigg Wine, and Screaming Bambino Cellars supply beer, cider, soda, and wine for the beer garden. Live music and food trucks are part of the festival program. All proceeds benefit the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council for trail maintenance, trail extension toward Carlisle and Chambersburg, and upkeep of the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum. Entry fees for main events start at $25 and $30 for some events, with listed higher event-day fees.
