Cumberland Valley TrailFest
Cumberland Valley TrailFest is a multi-event festival held on the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania on October 5, 2024. The festival benefits the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that owns and maintains the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail and works on extending the trail.
The festival program includes running, walking, biking and a BrewFest component. Several timed races use the rail-trail course and official timing and awards are recorded for race results.
Event offerings include:
- Half Marathon (chip timed on the rail-trail course)
- 5k (chip timed on the rail-trail course)
- 1 Mile kids event
- Hike
- Bike Ride
- BrewFest festival component
The Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council maintains a 13-mile rail trail that runs from Shippensburg toward Newville and is working on extensions. Multiple local organizations and sponsors support the event. Awards and age group results are produced for the races and timing is managed with official chip timing for the main runs.
