Culbin Forest 8-hour Challenge - 20 Nov 2027
The event is an eight hour loop challenge held at Culbin Forest Car Park, Kintessack, Forres IV36 2TG. Participants complete as many 4.367 mile laps as possible on trail paths; each lap has about 135 ft of ascent. An electronic wristband (HuTag on a velcro strap) records the start and finish time of every lap and provides a final lap count.
Distances
- 3 laps = Half Marathon
- 6 laps = Full Marathon
- 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon
Basecamp provides kit storage but the organiser does not accept liability for lost items. Two 6 x 3 meter gazebos will be available for storage and spectators are welcome. Event parking is in the left hand side field at the entrance to Culbin Forest; a marshal will direct vehicles and the walk to Basecamp is approximately five minutes.
Mandatory kit includes a minimum of 1500 ml fluid and 60–90 g of carbohydrates per hour of running, appropriate clothing for the weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone. Timing chips must remain uncovered and runners should avoid congregating at the start line after finishing a lap to prevent false readings.
