CTA Scholarship 5k Run/Walk
The CTA Scholarship 5k Run/Walk is organized by the Carmel Teachers Association. It takes place on a Sunday in early May in Carmel, New York. The event supports scholarships for graduating seniors from Carmel High School, with all proceeds going towards this cause.
Event Distances and Details
The event offers two participation options:
- Carmel Teacher Association Scholarship 5K Run/Walk: An in-person 5K (approximately 5 kilometers) on the Putnam County Rail Trail.
- Carmel Teacher Association Scholarship Virtual 5K Run/Walk: A virtual 5K option.
Course and Location
The in-person 5K starts and finishes near the Seminary Hill Tunnel. The course follows the rail trail from Seminary Hill Road towards Mahopac and then returns. The event hub, including registration, a free kids run, post-race awards, and parking, is at the Paladin Center on Seminary Hill Road.
Participant Information
A free half-mile run for kids is held before the main 5K, with medals for all finishers. T-shirts are available for the first 300 registrants. Awards are presented for top overall male and female runners, top Carmel Teachers Association male and female runners, and various age groups. The event includes space for local pop-up vendors.
