Course, aid stations and rules

The course is marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and color coded by distance; polka-dot flagging indicates turns and blue ribbons mark wrong-way junctions. Elevation gain and surface by distance: 8K - 710' (48% single track, 40% dirt road, 12% asphalt); Half Marathon - 2,190' (78% single track, 18% dirt road, 4% asphalt); 35K - 2,990' (87% single track); Marathon - 3,790' (72% single track, 26% dirt road); 50K - 4,530' (72% single track, 26% dirt road). Fully stocked aid stations appear every 5 to 9 miles with fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch drink; runners are recommended to carry at least 20 oz of water between aid stations. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own fluid container. Headphones are allowed only on dirt road sections and are not permitted on single-track trail, when crossing paved roads, at aid stations, or while crossing the finish line. The race uses MyLaps bibtags for timing and posts results on the website. Warnings note possible poison oak and occasional bees or yellow jackets.
