Woodside Ramble
Woodside Ramble is a trail running event held in Huddart County Park and Wunderlich County Park in Woodside, CA. The courses run through second- and third-generation redwood stands, mixed evergreen forest, and chaparral along ridgelines. Wildlife commonly encountered can include black-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, and gray foxes.
Distances offered:
- 10K: 6.2 miles, 1,100 feet elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: 13.2 miles, 2,600 feet elevation gain.
- 35K: 23.1 miles, 3,600 feet elevation gain.
- 50K: 31.2 miles, 5,400 feet elevation gain.
Most of the courses are on moderately technical dirt trails and some non-technical fire roads. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon about every 200 meters, with heavy marking at turns; blue ribbons mark wrong-way trails. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted.
Aid stations supply a variety of foods and drinks including gels, snacks, sandwiches, boiled potatoes, soda, water, and electrolyte mixes. This is a cupless event, so runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup; reusable cups and 500 ml soft flasks are available for purchase at the event. Runners are advised to carry at least one 20 oz bottle due to varied aid station spacing.
Additional event details: capacity is 400 runners across all distances, parking in the park requires cash payment, chip timing is used with disposable chips attached to bibs, and there is an eight hour time limit for the 35K and 50K.
