Crystal Springs Ultra Races
This trail running event takes place at Crystal Springs Recreation Area in Wytheville, Virginia. The course uses a loop format and follows trails including the High Rocks Spur Trail and Boundary Trail. Some sections of the trails are technical and include varied terrain.
This is a loop course.
- 12 hour and 6 hour: One loop 12.8 miles, 2,008 ft gain.
- 3 hour (Crystal Light): One loop 3.1 miles, 466 ft gain.
Parking at the recreation area is limited and a race-day shuttle is required; shuttle parking is at 180 Pump Hollow Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. There is no parking at the start line; the start is located at 723 Pump Hollow Lane.
This is a cupless event. Participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle because aid stations do not provide cups. Aid stations will offer PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, cookies, hard candy, a limited number of gels, and hot foods at select stations.
The Leftover Option is a low‑swag entry priced at $25. It includes race entry, a leftover medal and a leftover bib, and is limited to 10 runners. Entrants in that option are scored by most miles completed within the time allowed.
Awards are given for first through third overall in male, female, and nonbinary categories. There are no refunds of entry fees; transfers and rollovers are allowed under stated conditions. Volunteers earn a race shirt and, with three or more volunteer hours, an entry credit usable at future events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
