Crystal Springs Ultra Races

Crystal Springs Ultra Races is a loop trail running event at the Crystal Springs Recreation Area in the Town of Wytheville, Wythe County, Virginia. The courses use sections of the Crystal Springs Loop Trail, Boundary Trail, High Rocks Spur Trail, High Rocks Trail, and connecting fire roads and waterline trails. Some trail sections are technical and include notable elevation change.

Distances and options include:

• 36, 24, 12 mile options one loop equals 12.2 miles with 2,008 ft elevation gain
• 4 mile and 3 hour (Crystal Light) one loop equals 4 miles with 774 ft elevation gain
• 2 mile kids run uses Crystal Springs Loop with minimal elevation gain

The event operates as a cup less race so participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle; aid stations do not provide cups. Aid stations provide PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, Oreo cookies, hard candy, and a limited number of gels, with hot foods at select stations. Parking at Crystal Springs is limited and a shuttle from the designated shuttle parking address is required on race day. Shuttle parking address is 180 Pump Hollow Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. There is no parking at the start line. Start line address is 723 Pump Hollow Road.

Packet pickup takes place at Seven Sisters Brewery in downtown Wytheville on the day before the race. Entry fees are non refundable; transfers are allowed up to the day before the race with conditions. Medical rollovers are allowed for medical conditions including pregnancy and post partum.

A Leftover Option is available for a reduced entry fee of $35 and is limited to 10 runners. That option includes a leftover medal and bib only with no shirt or swag. Awards are presented for 1st through 3rd overall in Male, Female, and Nonbinary categories. Volunteers who provide three or more hours of service earn a race entry credit and receive a race shirt.
