CRPRC 5K Fancy Dress Fun Run
Clwb Rhedeg Pontardawe Running Club runs an annual Christmas fun run of 5 km on countryside paths around the town of Pontardawe. The route leaves the Alloy Industrial Estate and moves off-road through a park and along a riverside path past the Riverside Centre, then joins the canal towpath. The course crosses Herbert Street, passes through an underpass and along a paved off-road path by shops, a leisure centre and a school, meets the canal at Trebanos and follows the River Tawe to finish at The Pontardawe Inn (Y Gwachel).
Numbers are collected at the finish pub. Finishers receive a commemorative medal and a bottle of water, followed by a prize-giving at the pub with mulled wine and mince pies. Runners are encouraged to wear fancy dress; there are prizes for best fancy dress and spot prizes for certain placed finishers such as 10th, 25th and 40th. The event does not use chip timing but a finishing position will be recorded. Entrants must be 18 or older. Entry fees listed for the event include UKA member and non-member rates.
