Event overview

Crown Stub 100 is a 100-mile ultramarathon held at Stub Stewart State Park on April 4th, 2026. The event also offers an Ultra Relay Team (2 person) division that covers the same course. The course has over 7,000 ft of elevation gain. There are 13 aid stations along the route, four of which are full service; Stewarts Gate and Vernonia are listed as full-service aid stations. Registered runners may use two drop bags, accessible a total of six times at Stewarts Gate and Vernonia. A 32-hour cutoff applies for a recorded finish.

Course and logistics

The route is a double out-and-back that uses the Banks Vernonia State Trail, the Crown Zellerbach Trail, and park single-track trails. Surface breakdown in the description: the Banks Vernonia Trail is primarily asphalt, the Crown Zellerbach Trail is primarily hard-packed gravel, and about 10% of the course is dirt trail inside the park. The final sections include a return to the Hill Top Day Use area (mile 93.5) followed by one lap of the 6.5-mile Stub Stewart Trail Challenge.

Support rules include many crew access points, a prohibition on crew being inside vehicles while assisting (violation may lead to disqualification), and pacers allowed starting at Pisgah Aid Station (AS 5 / mile 40) who may not carry a runner’s gear. The relay will traverse the full course; exchange points and team rules will be provided later. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
