Fell Race Overview
The Cronkley Fell Race is a 17.1 km fell running event featuring over 560 meters of total ascent. Categorized as a BM race, the course consists of an out-and-back route through Upper Teesdale. The event begins in the hamlet of Holwick and follows a road toward Middleton-in-Teesdale before transitioning onto tracks and open fell terrain.
Course Details
The route runs parallel to the River Tees across the fells. After an undulating 6 km section, runners descend to an island in the River Tees, which serves as the turnaround point for the return leg back to Holwick. Participants run on rough terrain where paths are not always available. The course is not flagged, requiring individuals to possess competent navigation skills and fell running experience.
