Event Overview
The Crimson River Run is a 5K and 10K running and walking event. It will take place on March 7, 2026, at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is the 5th annual edition of the event, which was formerly known as the Redz River Run.
Course & Registration
The course is USATF certified and will be located on the university campus.
- 5K: A timed run and walk of 3.1 miles.
- 10K: A timed run and walk of 6.2 miles.
Registration fees vary by date:
- Regular registration (Dec 1 – Jan 31): $25 for either distance.
- Late registration (Feb 1 - Mar 6): $30 for either distance.
- Day of race registration: $35 for either distance.
Participants who register before February 2nd will receive a T-shirt and a finisher's medal. T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after February 20th.
Activities & Prizes
A special activity called Dear Dash is a brisk 20-yard walk to the race's starting line, exclusively for participants aged 60 or older. The winner becomes the official race starter.
Prizes include Varsity Sports gift cards for overall winners. The overall adult male and female winners of each distance receive a $125 gift card. The overall youth male and female 5K winners receive a $100 gift card. Place awards are also given for the top three male and female runners in various age categories.
Post-Race & Charity
Following the race, there will be a Community Health and Economic Summit, featuring health screenings and local small business vendors. The event is hosted by the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and benefits several local charities and organizations.
