About the race
The Crimson River Run 5K/10K is scheduled for March 6, 2027 at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge. The event is organized by the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and uses a USATF certified route on the university campus.

- 5 km timed run and walk
- 10 km timed run and walk
Registration is offered in early, regular, late, and day-of periods with increasing fees; early registration was listed at $25, regular at $30, and late at $35 in the event information. Participants who register before January 30 will receive a T-shirt and a finisher's medal; T-shirts are not guaranteed for later registrations.
The event includes a "Dear Dash," a brisk 20-yard walk for participants aged 60 or older where the winner serves as the official race starter. Prize awards include $125 Varsity Sports gift cards for the overall adult male and female winners of the 5K and 10K, and $100 Varsity Sports gift cards for the overall youth male and female 5K winners. Place awards and other prizes are given to the top three in each age group: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+.
Following the races there is a Community Health and Economic Summit featuring health screenings and local business vendors. Sponsors named for the event include The Carpenter Health Network, Trader Joe's, Coke, Bally's, Varsity Sports, and Community Coffee.
