Event details
The Crimson River Run is the 5th annual 5K and 10K race/walk taking place on the Southern University and A&M College campus on Harding Boulevard in Baton Rouge, LA. The route is USATF certified. The event is hosted by the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The event was formerly known as the Redz River Run. Both in-person and virtual options are available. Groups are welcome to participate.
Registration and prizes
Registration is offered in tiers: Early (Oct 1 - Nov 30), Regular (Dec 1 - Jan 31), Late (Feb 1 - Mar 6), and on-site the day of the race. Participants who register before February 20 will receive a T-shirt and a finisher's medal; T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after that date.
Overall adult male and female winners of each race will receive a $125 Varsity Sports gift card. Overall youth male and female 5K winners will receive a $100 Varsity Sports gift card. Place awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in these age categories: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+.
Additional activities
A brief 20-yard "Dear Dash" walk is held for participants aged 60 and older; the winner serves as the official race starter. After the races, a Community Health and Economic Summit will feature health screenings and local small business vendors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
