Girls on the Run South Louisiana 5K Celebration
The event is a season closing 5K celebration for Girls on the Run South Louisiana program participants, held in November 2026 in two locations: Baton Rouge at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, 5525 Reitz Ave., and Lafayette at Moncus Park, 2913 Johnston St. The council describes the 5K as a noncompetitive closing event that gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course length is 5K (3.1 miles). Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. The council provides a running buddy system so each participant has a designated individual to accompany them along the full course; parents and guardians may serve as running buddies. The event is described as accessible for people with disabilities, with designated parking spots and options to walk, roll, push or run at a personal pace.
Safety measures include required race bibs, course monitoring, head counts and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers. Volunteers support setup, registration, Inspiration Village, water stations, cheer stations, a happy hair station and other activities; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check.
Registration pricing for nonprogram participants is tiered: Early Bird $25, General $30, and Day of Registration $40. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered and do not need to register. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
