Girls on the Run South Louisiana 5K Celebration
Girls on the Run South Louisiana holds a season-closing 5K celebration in Baton Rouge and Lafayette on November 14 and 15, 2026. The event marks the end of the program season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment by completing a 5K (3.1 miles) course.
The event is presented as noncompetitive and welcoming to a range of paces; organizers note the fastest participants may finish in about 25 minutes while most finish between 30 and 50 minutes. Participants are encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.

Logistics and access details include free on-site parking in Baton Rouge and free parking with a shuttle option in Lafayette. Designated parking spots and accessible course provisions are available for people with disabilities. For safety, every participant must wear a race bib, a running buddy is assigned or may be provided by a parent or guardian, course monitoring and head counts are used, and a council safety plan guides staff and volunteers. Some volunteers appointed through the council undergo background checks.
Additional on-site features listed for the celebration include an Inspiration Village, water stations, cheer stations, happy hair station, inspirational bandanas and merchandise for sale.
