Crimson Canyons Ultra

Crimson Canyons Ultra in Richfield, UT offers trail races that run on the Pahvant Range inside Fishlake National Forest. The courses link canyons, dry washes, sections of the Paiute ATV Trail, and segments of the Pahvant mountain bike trail system.

Distances:

  • 10 km up Big Red and Kiln-It, down Cairn-Age and Tank Run
  • 21 km (half marathon) via Big Red, Kiln-It, Cottonwood Canyon Rim, Lower Spinal Tap
  • 60 km Spinal Tap route to White Pine Peak (10,200 ft), then 18 miles descent

Elevation gain and time limits are: 10 km: 1,226 ft / 374 m (time limit 4 hours).
21 km: 2,009 ft / 612 m (time limit 8 hours).
60 km: 6,980 ft / 2,128 m (time limit 15 hours).

Aid stations are placed along the courses and are stocked with common ultra items including Hammer gels and Heed. Given long, remote sections, organizers require all runners to carry a personal hydration solution; 60 km entrants must carry additional required items including a rain jacket. One drop bag location is available at Aid Station 3 for 60 km runners.

Packet pickup is scheduled the evening before at Lion's Park where the race starts and ends; morning pickup is discouraged but is available for those who arrive at least 45 minutes before their race. Timed starts and chip timing are used. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
