Crescent City Classic
The Crescent City Classic is an annual 10-kilometer road race held in New Orleans since 1979. The event is produced by the Crescent City Classic Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), and is scheduled each year on the Saturday before Easter Sunday.
The USATF-sanctioned and certified 10K (6.2 miles) is a point-to-point course that begins in front of the Caesars Superdome on Poydras Street, runs through the French Quarter and along Esplanade Avenue, and finishes inside New Orleans City Park on Lelong Avenue just before the New Orleans Museum of Art. For safety, no bikes, rollerblades, skates, or pets other than service animals are allowed on the course. Medical support from New Orleans EMS units and the LCMC Health medical team is stationed along the route, and a trailing vehicle is available to transport participants who cannot finish.
Event components include a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, and the Michelob Ultra RaceFest in City Park featuring live music, local food, an award ceremony, a costume contest, and a Family Fun Zone with kid-friendly activities. RaceFest admission is included for runners and children five years and younger; guests may purchase festival passes.
Registration details in the event information note entry fees that vary by registration date, a $5 discount for military and first responders, and that children five and under enter free but do not receive a bib, shirt, or medal. All entrants receive a race bib with timing tag, a commemorative race t-shirt, a finisher’s medallion, and shuttle transportation before and after the race. Bibs and shirts must be picked up at the Expo on the Thursday and Friday before the race; there is no race day bib pickup. A mailed bib option is available for an additional fee with an advance deadline.
The Run for It charity program supports local nonprofits with an annual fundraising goal of $1,000,000. Charity registrants receive a discounted registration rate, must meet minimum fundraising requirements, and may receive a full refund if they reach specified fundraising thresholds. A virtual CCC10K option allows participants to complete the 10K (6.2 miles) on race day from any location; virtual packets are mailed after the event.
