CraggRunner Sprint 5k
The CraggRunner Sprint 5k is a road running event held at the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Nelson. The event takes place on a flat course situated at a dedicated cycle hub, designed to accommodate participants looking for a level running surface. This race is part of a four-event series scheduled throughout 2026, and individuals have the option to enter single races or the entire series.
The event utilizes a graded start system where participants are allocated into one of six specific races based on their predicted finish times. The schedule begins with slower heat times and progresses to the fastest heat as the final race of the day. All participants will be notified of their specific heat assignment prior to the event date. Results are recorded using chip timing technology, with data linked to official national rankings including Run Britain and Power of 10.
Distances available at this event include:
- 5 km (Senior race for ages 15 and older)
- 3 km (Junior race for Under 14s)
- 2 km (Junior race for Under 12s)
- 1 km (Junior race for Under 10s)
The venue provides portable toilets and water for participants. Due to the time of year, on-site parking on the grass is restricted, and participants are required to find parking on local roads near Cravendale Avenue. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in the male and female categories for the junior races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
