CraggRunner Sprint 5k
The CraggRunner Sprint 5k is a road running event held at the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Nelson. The course is situated on a cycle hub and is described as flat, serving as a venue for runners seeking personal records or a first-time race experience. The event is part of a four-race series scheduled throughout 2026.
Participants are organized into one of six separate races based on their predicted finish times. The schedule begins with slower-timed heats and moves toward the fastest-timed heat at the end of the program. Chip timing is provided for all participants, with results officially linked to Run Britain and Power of 10.
Distances available at the event include:
- 5 km (Senior race for ages 15 and older)
- 3 km (Junior race for under 14s)
- 2 km (Junior race for under 12s)
- 1 km (Junior race for under 10s)
The venue provides portable toilets and water stations for participants before and after their races. Parking is available on local roads surrounding the facility, as on-site parking at the Sports Hub field is restricted during this time of year. Medals are awarded to the top three boys and girls in each of the junior race categories. Registration is open to both UKA members and non-members.
