CraggRunner Sprint 5k
The CraggRunner Sprint 5k is a road running event held at the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Nelson. The course is situated at a cycle hub and is characterized by a flat surface. This event is part of a four-race series scheduled throughout 2026, with participants having the option to enter individual races or the entire series.
The competition is organized into multiple heats to accommodate different running speeds. Participants are allocated to one of six planned races based on their predicted finish times, with groupings arranged from slower to faster predicted paces. The event utilizes chip timing provided by Time My Race, and results are submitted to Run Britain and Power of 10.
Available distances include:
- 5 km (Main event, minimum age 15)
- 3 km (Under 14)
- 2 km (Under 12)
- 1 km (Under 10)
The main 5 km race is open to participants aged 15 and older. Junior categories are available for those aged 14 and under, with medals awarded to the top three boys and girls in each junior race. Portable toilets and water stations are provided at the venue. As there is no parking available on the Sports Hub field, participants are required to find parking on local roads near Cravendale Avenue.
