Courtland Pear Fair 5 and 10 Mile Run
The Courtland Pear Fair 5 and 10 Mile Run takes place in Courtland, California, to celebrate the Bartlett Pear harvest. This event is part of the 52nd Pear Fair and offers participants a route through agricultural Delta lands. The course consists of a mix of surfaces, including dirt trails, gravel paths, sections through orchards and vineyards, and paved roads. Due to the varied terrain, the course is not considered suitable for strollers.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 10 Mile run
- 5 Mile run
- 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run
The 5 and 10 mile events are limited to a combined total of 300 participants. Runners pass through rural areas where active honey bee hives are located for crop pollination. Finishers receive a unisex performance shirt and a medal. Custom pear trophies are awarded to top finishers in various age groups, though no formal ceremony is held.
Check-in and bib pick-up occur at the Nonie Wetzel Courtland Library. Free parking is available for runners in a designated area off Magnolia Avenue. Following the race, a pancake breakfast is available for a fee, with proceeds supporting local high school athletic programs and scholarship funds. Please note that pets are not permitted at the fair or on the race course, with the exception of registered service animals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
