Event Overview
The Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series August event is part of a multi-race trail series organized by Seattle Running Club and Northwest Trail Runs. The event supports King County Parks, with $15 from every entry fee donated to the parks. The series has raised over $265,000 for the parks and contributed hundreds of hours of trail work.
Location and Course
The run takes place at the Sky Country Trailhead in Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park in Bellevue, Washington. The park is described as a popular training ground with a lush forest of fern-lined single-track trails, hills, marshes, and wetland habitats. The course features rolling hills, moderate climbs, and some steep but short inclines.

Registration and Details
Online registration closes at 11:59 PM PDT on the Wednesday before the event, with day-of registration available if space permits. There is a participant cap, and races tend to sell out. Awards are given to the top three Men, Women, and Nonbinary runners in each event. The event has a cup-free policy to reduce trash; participants are asked to bring a refillable water container for use at aid stations. Dogs are not allowed on the course due to insurance requirements.
Series Information
The event is part of a summer series held on the second Saturday of May, June, July, and August. Series awards are available for runners competing in the "Short Series" or "Long Series" cumulative distances, with the best three out of four races eligible. The top overall Man, Woman, and Nonbinary runner in each series receives an award and free entry into the next year's series. A 20% discount is available for Seattle Running Club members.
