Obliteride
Obliteride is a fundraising event that includes a bike ride and a 5K walk/run to raise money for Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The event gathers participants in Seattle and also involves riders and walkers around the country. Participation options include in-person riding, the 5K walk/run, virtual participation, volunteering, and sponsorship.
Organizers report that 100% of participant-raised dollars fund research and discovery at Fred Hutch, supported by event sponsors and other supporters. Over 14 years, participants and supporters have raised more than $74 million for Fred Hutch, and this year Obliteriders have raised more than $7.4 million. Fundraising for the current cycle continues through September 30.
Event programming has included a Friday Night Party and Obliteride Day. The Obliteride name is a registered trademark of Fred Hutch Cancer Center. Fred Hutch is described as an independent organization that also serves as UW Medicine’s cancer program. Named sponsors listed for the event include the Sloan Foundation, University Village, Freestone, and the Sinegal Family Foundation.
