Cottontail 6 & 12 Hour
The Cottontail 6 & 12 Hour is an annual trail running event held at Carkeek Park in Seattle, Washington. Participants have the choice between an in-person race day or a virtual option that can be completed on local trails. This event is organized by Endless Trails, a non-profit organization, and serves as a fundraiser where proceeds are directed toward the maintenance and support of local Northwest trails.
The course consists of a 1.93-mile loop featuring varied terrain, including rolling trails, steep stairs, and short flat sections. Each completion of the loop involves 436 feet of elevation gain. The route follows the same course as the Carkeek 12-Hour but is run in the opposite direction. Runners can choose to participate for any duration within their registered time limit.
Available event options include:
- 6-hour timed run
- 12-hour timed run
- Virtual race option
The event maintains a low-impact approach by avoiding paper products and sourcing aid station supplies and raffle prizes from local Seattle businesses. Support staff provide lap counting using a sticker system and offer aid station fare such as homemade soup. The park location offers views of the Puget Sound. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
