Event Overview
The CORE Indoor Sprint Triathlon is a timed multi-sport event held at the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex in Lemont. Participants complete three sequential disciplines indoors, focusing on time spent at each station rather than a fixed distance. The event is open to athletes aged 14 to 100 and has a maximum capacity of 60 participants.
Competition Format
The triathlon consists of three timed segments where the total distance traveled by each athlete is recorded at the end of the session:
- 10 minute swim in the aquatic center.
- 15 minute bike on a Keiser Spin Bike.
- 15 minute run on a Precor Treadmill.
Athletes compete in heats of 4 to 5 people. New heats begin in 20 minute increments throughout the morning. Final distances are measured once the athlete completes their final segment on the treadmill.
Participant Information
Individuals are required to bring a swimsuit, towel, and appropriate athletic attire, including shoes for the cycling and running portions. It is also recommended to bring a water bottle and a lock for on-site lockers. Parking is available at the Lemont Park District campus or the adjacent Old Quarry Middle School.
The event concludes with an awards ceremony held approximately 30 minutes after the final heat. Awards are presented to the overall winners as well as first and second-place male and female finishers in each age division. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
