Coquet River Sprint Triathlon & Aquabike
The event takes place on 21 June 2026 at The Braid, Amble, Great Britain. It is an adult only event for participants aged 18 or over and includes both a sprint triathlon and an aquabike option.
Distances:
- Swim: 750 m in the River Coquet, tidal
- Bike: 20 km out and back on public non-closed roads
- Run: 5 km, two lap course on mixed terrain
The swim is in a tidal river and water temperature is expected to be similar to the North Sea. Wetsuits are very likely to be compulsory and, if not compulsory, are strongly recommended.
The bike leg runs on public roads where the Highway Code takes precedence. In line with British Triathlon Federation rules, participants may be disqualified for breaking road traffic regulations or for dangerous conduct. Examples given by organisers include crossing central white lines on single carriageway roads, failing to signal right turns at roundabouts, and not being ready to brake at junctions and roundabouts.
The run follows grass, track and pavement and may be slippery depending on conditions so appropriate footwear is advised. The event will use chip timing and will award finisher medals and trophies to the overall top three in the open and female categories. Tea, coffee and cake are provided after the race in the yacht club.
There is limited parking at The Braid so car sharing is recommended. Early bird price is £45 until 1 May 2026 then increases to £50. Registration closes 15 June 2026. Non BTF members must purchase a BTF race pass for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
