Twin Anchors Copperhead Beer Relay 20K and Beer Mile
The event takes place at the Briar Patch Hunting property north of Poplar Grove Plantation in Hampstead, North Carolina, at 12706 US-17. It combines a 20K trail race with a Beer Mile and several one-mile novelty races on wooded 5K loops.
The 20K course is composed of repeated 5K laps. Before each lap participants may choose a 12-ounce Wicked Weed beer or chocolate milk. Beer is available only to those 21 and older; chocolate milk is offered as an alternative. Drinking a beer before a lap provides a 2 minute deduction per 5K lap. Individual entrants may drink up to four beers for a maximum eight minute deduction. Relay teams of two, three, or four members carry a baton during their legs and race in a separate division; the beer option can provide a 2 minute deduction for each 5K leg.
Divisions include an individual 20K, 20K relay, a double division combining the Beer Mile and the 20K individual, a Beer Club division for brewery-associated teams, corporate charity teams with a percentage of proceeds going to the winning team's charity, Beer Mile categories, and a Donut Mile.
