Coombabah Trail Run - Coombabah Trail Run / Walk
The event is a community trail run and walk held in the Coombabah Lake Conservation Area, part of the Southern Moreton Bay Marine Park and listed in the Ramsar Convention. The official start and finish point is at the main entrance of the reserve, opposite the Southport Airfield on Shelter Road (Koala Trail).
Race details include the following distances:
- 12.5 km
- 5.5 km
Each participant receives a race number (bib) and a Coombabah Trail Run logoed visor or bucket hat. At the finish participants are offered a small sweet item and a drink. A fully equipped paramedical team provides on-site first aid during the event.
The organiser limits entries to keep field sizes small and personal. Prizes and lucky-draw items have included custom YETI drinkware and Specialized T-shirts with an embroidered Coombabah Trail Run logo. From 2025 a multi-event prize draws one entrant from the combined yearly events for entry, accommodation for two, and transport to the Papatowai Challenge in Otago, New Zealand; this prize is provided with partner support.
The event is run by local residents and runners who use the reserve for running and biking, and future plans include working with local animal welfare organisations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
