About the race
The Mateship Run is a community running event held in Currumbin that supports veteran services and commemorates Remembrance Day. The program includes multiple individual distances and a team competition that builds on the event theme of mateship.
Distances offered:
- 11.11 km flagship event, with a timing mat at the 10 km point
- 5 km event
- 2.5 km Junior Dash
The 11.11 km distance references the Armistice of World War I and is timed; the fastest four finishers from each team in the 11.11 km event are combined to produce a team accumulated time. Teams may be all-male, all-female, or mixed and are entered as open teams. Participants run, walk, or spectate alongside veterans, families, and community members while using Currumbin as the event setting.
The event notes fundraising for veteran services and records that over $7,000 was raised in 2025. The organiser restored the event in late 2025 and scheduled it again for Sunday, November 8, 2026.
