The Cut Ultra

The Cut Ultra is an elimination-format running event held at the Gold Coast Cycle Centre criterium track in Nerang, Queensland. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026. Online entries open on July 1, 2026 and close on race day.

The format removes a set number of runners at the end of specific laps rather than using a fixed race distance. Total distance for individual runners will vary and is described as somewhere between 10.5 km and no more than 50 km on this occasion. The course is run on bitumen with lap designs that may include clockwise, anti-clockwise, figure-of-eight or other configurations determined on the day.

There is a Junior Cut for ages 10–16 with 500 m laps and a minimum of 2 km and maximum of 5 km to be run; the junior field is capped at 30 runners. Minimum age for the main event is 12; runners aged 12–15 will have a mandatory cut at 21 km if not cut earlier.

Event services include a hydration partner supplying drinks, chilled water in the precinct, a first aid officer on site, a trackside bar and various non-running activities such as live music, DJs, food and coffee vans, casual games and family activities. Participants must bring their own reusable drinking vessel as there will not be disposable cups. The event is capped; each runner receives a finisher's gift upon being cut.
