About the race
The Cut Ultra is an elimination-style running event held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at the Gold Coast Cycle Centre criterium track in Nerang, Queensland. The format removes runners during the race across multiple laps rather than being a fixed-distance race for every participant. Total distance for individuals will vary and is expected to be between 10.5 km and up to 50 km, depending on how long a runner remains in the event.
A Junior Cut is staged separately for ages 10 to 16, limited to 30 runners, using 500 m laps with a minimum distance of 2 km and a maximum of 5 km. The main event has a minimum age of 12; runners aged 12 to 15 face a mandatory cut at 21 km if still running. The event is capped and entrants must register in advance; online entries open on July 1, 2026.
The event precinct includes hydration provided by FIXX NUTRITION and chilled water; there will not be disposable cups so participants should bring a reusable vessel. A first aid officer will be present. The course is run on bitumen and may be configured in various lap patterns. Runners receive a finisher's gift when cut; there are no medals for The Cut. Prizes are awarded for overall winner, team lap totals, team pro rata, and most laps won by an individual. Presentations are limited, with overall winners notified after the event.
