Event information
The Conquer the Cove 25k & Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026. The race is based at Sherwood Archers, 2720 Timberview Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. The event is limited to 300 runners and includes both in-person and virtual options. Registration opens in December 2025.

Course, aid stations and awards
Both courses use trails in Carvins Cove Natural Reserve. The marathon route includes approximately 3,500 ft of elevation gain, with about 1,000 ft of climbing after mile 18, followed by 2.35 miles of downhill and about 2 miles of easier trail to the finish. The race will have multiple aid stations; eight aid stations are listed as well stocked with water and Skratch, gels, bananas, oranges, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, and other sugary or salty items.
All finishers receive a finishers medal. Awards are provided for the top three overall male and female finishers, top master winners, and first place in each age group. Age brackets start at 14 and under and extend through 70 and up.
Logistics and rules
Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled at local pickup sites in the days before the race and at Sherwood Archers on race day. Property rules state that dogs are not permitted on site. Spectators and participants do not need a Carvins Cove day use pass for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
