Conquer the Cove 25k and Marathon Trail Races
The event is scheduled for May 30, 2027, at Sherwood Archers, 2720 Timberview Rd, Roanoke, VA. It takes place within Carvins Cove Natural Reserve, a park described as covering 12,700 acres and containing about 40 miles of roads and trails.
Distances offered:
- 25k, 15.86 miles, trail and virtual option
- Marathon, 26.46 miles, trail and virtual option
The course routes use a large portion of the park; the organizer states roughly 80% of the park trails will be included, and trails will be well marked and maintained. The marathon route includes approximately 3,500 feet of elevation gain. About 1,000 feet of that climbing occurs after mile 18, followed by 2.35 miles of downhill and then about 2 miles of easier running to the finish.
The event serves as the anchor race for the Roanoke Non Ultra Trail Series (RNUTS). Virtual entries are accepted and count as RNUTS qualifying races. Virtual registrants receive a race shirt if registered by 5/6/26; registrants after that date receive Mountain Junkies LLC socks or a Hoo Rag.
