Community Strong Race Weekend
The Community Strong Race Weekend is an annual fundraising event held in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Now in its fifth year, the event aims to bring awareness to physical and mental health challenges while raising funds for the Algoma Family Services (AFS) Foundation to support mental health initiatives in the Algoma District.
The event features a variety of race distances held over the course of the weekend:
- Marathon (Boston qualifier)
- Half-Marathon
- 10 km
- Colour Run (5 km)
- Kids Fun Run
- BP 61KM Challenge (a series including a 3.8 km Friday run, the 10 km and 5 km races on Saturday, and the full marathon on Sunday)
The event is centered at 50 Pim Street. Race packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, June 19, at The Tap Room. In addition to the competitive races, the weekend includes various family-oriented activities. Participants can access discounted accommodations through an official hotel partnership with the Sleep Inn, located near the start line.
