Event
The 4Y5K: Community of Care is a UVA tradition presented by the Peer Health Educators to promote bystander intervention strategies and to create an opportunity for the UVA and Charlottesville communities to celebrate a positive tradition together. The race is held annually on the morning of the last home football game and was established in memory of a fourth-year UVA student who died in 1997. Following a shooting on Grounds in November 2022, the event incorporated new elements to honor those lost and to emphasize collective well-being. This edition takes place during Family Weekend. Proceeds traditionally support an art study fund established in memory of the fourth-year student; this year a portion of proceeds will also be donated to ADD.
What's included with registration: a Comfort Colors short-sleeve t-shirt, a chipped race bib, and access to free food and entertainment. Registration fee is listed as $20 and registration opens September 29, 2025 at 9:00am EDT.
