Community Canal Run

Community Canal Run : 28th December 2026
This is a free community run organised by Channel Events in partnership with Taunton Running Club. The route follows the tow path alongside the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and the River Tone and is entirely off road. The event is untimed and bib numbers are not used.
Registration must be completed online so participants are insured. Entrants register on arrival at their chosen start and check out at the finish. Online entries close on 20th December 2026. Finishers medals are available as an optional paid extra and must be ordered in advance.

- 14 miles start at YMCA Bridgwater, Friarn Avenue, TA6 3RF
- 7.5 miles start at Somerset Boat Centre, Bankland, TA7 0DQ Finish at COACH, French Weir Park, French Weir Avenue, Taunton, TA1 1AW
Safety and logistics information is provided to entrants. A GPX file and route map are available to download. Sections of the route can be wet and trail running shoes are strongly advised. Water is provided at the start, halfway and the finish but entrants should bring their own drinking vessel as events are cupless. There will be trained first aiders from Apex Medical and Rescue along the route.
Dogs are not allowed to take part. Age rules: under 8s cannot participate; ages 8 to 16 must run with a supervising adult; 16 to 17 year olds may run solo with parental consent.
Photographers will take images on the route and at the finish. Sales profits from photos are donated to the Canal and River Trust, which has granted permission for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
