Event overview
The 2026 Commander-in-Chief Chase is a road running event on February 16, 2026 at Wilderness Presidential Resort in Spotsylvania, Virginia (9220 Plank Rd.; lat/long 38.301339, -77.652370). Distances offered include:
- 5k
- 10k
Points from the event count toward the year-long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available.
Race details
The course is paved and described as fairly flat with no major hills. The event is chip timed and finishers receive a medal and a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt. Water stations are provided: five stations on the 10k (approximately miles 0.7, 1.8, 3.1, 3.8 and 4.9) and two on the 5k (approximately miles 0.7 and 1.8); Gatorade will be available at some stations. Packet pickup is available at the event, and race day registration is offered. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before February 4; extras are first-come, first-served after that date.
Live results will be posted on Athlinks and a QR code at the race will link to immediate results; final results with series points are posted to the organizer’s website the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in standard age groups; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
