Colors of Cancer Memorial 5K
The Colors of Cancer Memorial 5K is a charity running event in Toronto, Ohio that raises funds for The Sunshine Charity to assist local families affected by cancer. Proceeds are used for essentials such as co-pays, groceries, gas, travel and lodging.
The event begins at Tri B’s Coffee Shop and follows a flat, scenic route along the Ohio River. Participants may wear colored powders or clothing to honor loved ones; many choose colors that represent a specific cancer.
There are multiple participation options, including timed and non-timed choices. The Leisure Option is non-timed and allows participants to walk, jog, or cover part of the course at their own pace; Leisure participants receive a T shirt and may join the post-event festivities but are not eligible for timed awards. Specialty drinks at Tri B’s are available with proceeds benefiting The Sunshine Charity.
The Kids Rainbow Dash is designed for children ages 12 and under and uses a short out-and-back course of about one kilometer; adults should not register for the kids run. A virtual five kilometer option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person. Participants are invited to share stories and honor loved ones in the event Facebook group in the lead up to race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
