Colors for Hope 5K
The Colors for Hope 5K is a community memorial event in Montague, Michigan on July 25, 2026. It was created after the death by suicide of a young person in 2022 and focuses on mental health awareness, remembrance, and community support. The organizing scholarship fund promotes youth suicide prevention through mental health education and resilience work.
The event offers two options: a timed 5K run/walk and an untimed 5K walk; both cover 3.1 miles. Entry fees listed for the two options are $30 for the timed run/walk and $20 for the untimed walk. The event location is 8636 Water St., Montague, MI 49437.
One hundred percent of proceeds provide scholarships for local high schools and support Hope Squads, peer-led suicide prevention programs that focus on education, training, and peer intervention to address suicide and mental health issues in schools.
Race day includes a welcome with sponsor and vendor recognition and a prayer, a color toss, participant line-up, and an awards ceremony. Awards are given to the top three female and male finishers within the event age groups: 8 & under; 9-12; 13-16; 17-22; 23-30; 31-40; 41-50; 51-60; 61-70; 71 and over.
