Event overview

The Color for Change 5K is presented by the Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina to support The Willow Tree Child Advocacy Center in Surry County. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Fisher River Park, 251 County Home Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The Willow Tree is a newly developed child advocacy center that works with a multidisciplinary team including local law enforcement, the Department of Social Services, Guardian ad Litem, the District Attorney, and medical professionals. The center provides a designated space for children to share their experiences with trained professionals.

This event will be an officially timed race using chip timing. After the race, an assortment of breakfast foods, fruit, and water will be available for runners at the finish line. A course map is provided by the organizer.

Registration, fees and awards

Registration fees include a Color for Change 5K t-shirt for registrants who sign up by November 6, 2025. Fee levels listed by the organizer are: Adults $30.00 and Children (under 10) $15.00.

Awards are custom medals given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each age division: 14 and under, 15-29, 30-49, and 50+.
