About the race
The Colne Valley Path event offers two trail distances that follow local footpaths and meadows around Colchester. The marathon route follows the Colne Valley Path through Great Yeldham and past the mighty oak. The half marathon starts in Greenstead Green and both distances finish on the Cymbeline meadows in Colchester. The event base is Stambourne Village Hall, Church Road, Stambourne CO9 4NP.
Navigation is self directed using a GPX file or written instructions provided for download when finalised. The organiser will place fully stocked aid stations and checkpoints at regular intervals along the routes. The event will be cupless; participants must provide their own cup or may purchase a collapsible speedcup for £2.50.
There will be a pre race shuttle to transport participants to the start so vehicles can be left at the finish; the shuttle is now full. Parking and toilets are available at both the start and the finish. Based on the self navigation format, marathon entries may opt out of a medal for a reduced entry fee; a medal must be selected and paid for at registration and additional medals will not be available on race day unless some remain. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UK Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
