College of Applied & Natural Sciences: Run for Research
The event takes place at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA on 10/24/2026. The course runs through and around the Louisiana Tech campus. Packet pickup and race day registration are available on race day and participants can visit student organizations after the run to learn about academic programs, research, and community projects.
There are in-person and virtual participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk is offered in person.
- A Virtual 5K option allows participants to run any day, anytime, at a location of their choice.
- A Supporter/T-Shirt Only option is available for those not running or walking.
Registration details differ by entry type. Registration opens and closes on specified dates for each option, and fees are listed for each entry category. Registration fees shown are $25.00 for the in-person 5K, $25.00 for the Virtual 5K, and $20.00 for the Supporter/T-Shirt Only option. Virtual registrations include a digital bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and shipping; virtual packets will be mailed and are scheduled to ship the week after the race. Virtual participants may upload times beginning on the day of the event.
All finishers receive a finisher medal. Age group awards for the 5K include overall male and female 1st through 3rd place, and 1st place awards by male and female age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
