Coiners

Coiners is a fell race around Erringden Moor, Stoodley Pike and Bell House Moor, following paths, tracks and moorland and offering views across Cragg Vale. The route passes the old coiners cottages at Bell House and Keelam and is flagged; runners are responsible for following the route and for their own safety. An amendment to the original route is in place because of nesting birds so participants must follow the flags.

The course distance and ascent are 11 km / 396 m. The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is therefore a non GPS-aided navigation race; GPS devices may be used to record the route but electronic navigation aids are not permitted except in an emergency. If GPS navigation is used to reach safety the competitor must declare as non-competitive at the finish.

FRA mandatory minimum kit may be required depending on the weather and includes waterproof full body cover (waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket with an integrated hood and taped seams), hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass (not out of a Christmas cracker) and whistle. There will be a kit check prior to race number allocation. Safety pins are not provided so competitors should bring their own.

The event is based at Mytholmroyd with parking at Mytholmroyd Community Centre where a £2 parking charge is collected. Public transport access via Mytholmroyd train station and the cycle path from Hebden Bridge is described by the organiser. The race limit is 200 and minimum age is 18.
