Event overview
Coiners is a fell race in the Calder Valley that follows paths, tracks and moorland around Erringden Moor, Stoodley Pike and Bell House Moor. The route passes the old coiners cottages of Bell House and Keelam and offers views of Cragg Vale. The course distance is 11 km (6.9 miles) with about 396 m (1300 ft) of ascent. The route will be flagged and runners are responsible for following the route. An amendment to the original route is in place because of nesting birds, so flags must be followed.
Logistics, entry and rules
The event takes place in Mytholmroyd. Parking is provided at Mytholmroyd Community Centre with a small charge and parking space is limited; car sharing is encouraged. Minimum age is 18 years. Entry fees are listed for pre-entry and entry on the day; on-day places are available up to a race limit of 200 but are not guaranteed.
The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules and is designated a non-GPS race for navigation. GPS devices may be used to record a route but electronic devices must not be used to aid navigation except in an emergency; use of GPS navigation requires declaring a non-competitive finish. A decision on required kit will be made on the day; participants should be prepared to carry FRA mandatory minimum kit, including waterproof full body cover (waterproof trousers and jacket with integrated hood and taped seams), hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass and whistle.
