Code 5k: Answering the Call
The Mountainside Rescue Squad organizes a second annual 5K fundraiser to help mark National EMS Week. The squad is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization staffed by 100 percent volunteer EMTs that provide emergency medical services to the Borough of Mountainside and nearby communities.
The event includes multiple short-distance options:
- 5K Run, timed; $40 fee; shirt if registered before May 1
- 5K Walk, untimed; $30 fee; bib and shirt if registered before May 1
- Kids Fun Run, 0.25 miles; $20 fee; for ages 12 and under; no shirts
The course for the 5K is USATF certified and the official course map and certification are provided. Because the start and finish locations differ, the event will use a gun start. The 5K run is timed using RFID chips placed in each bib; chips are read at the finish line only. Registration opens on 2026-02-01 and closes on 2026-05-16.
Parking is limited. Nearby parking options include the Mountainside Community Pool and the Mountainside Library, with a footbridge available to cross Route 22. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
