Distances
- Code 5k: Answering the Call - 5k Run: A timed 5 km run. Participants registering before May 1 receive a shirt.
- Code 5k: Answering the Call - 5k Walk: A non-competitive 5 km walk. Participants registering before May 1 receive a bib and shirt.
- Code 5k: Answering the Call - Kids Fun Run: A kids' fun run. Shirts are not available for this event.
Course Details
The 5 km course is USATF-certified. The start and finish locations are different, requiring a gun start for all participants. Timing for the run is via RFID chips embedded in the race bibs, which are read at the finish line.
Logistics
Parking is limited on-site. Organizers suggest arriving early and using parking at the Mountainside Community Pool or Mountainside Library, then using a footbridge to cross Route 22 to the event site.
Post-Race Activities
Following the 5k events, an EMS Week Open House is held. Participants can meet volunteer EMTs, tour emergency vehicles, and enjoy other activities.
Organizer
The event is organized by the Mountainside Rescue Squad, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization staffed entirely by volunteer EMTs serving the Borough of Mountainside and nearby communities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
