The Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic is a 5K road race held on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk during Memorial Day weekend in May 2026. This is the 21st annual edition. T-shirts and medals are awarded to all finishers. The event also features the Coastal Edge Student Art Pavilion and the Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic by Katin WSL 1000 surfing contest.
Course and logistics
The course is a flat out-and-back that starts on the boardwalk at 2nd Street, runs north to 24th Street, and returns to 2nd Street. Water stations are located at the start/finish line and at the turnaround. The listed location is 2nd Street Boardwalk, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Parking is available in the 2nd Street lot and at metered spaces on cross streets. Packet pick up is available Friday, May 23 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Coastal Edge, 316 21st Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23454, and race morning between 6:00 am and 6:30 am at the start line.
