Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic 5K
The Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic 5K is an annual running event held during Memorial Day Weekend in Virginia Beach. The race marks its 21st anniversary and takes place along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The course is a flat out-and-back route that remains entirely on the boardwalk.
Participants follow a path that begins at 2nd Street, head north to 24th Street, and return to the original starting point at 2nd Street. Water stations are positioned for runners at both the start/finish line and the halfway turnaround point. All participants who complete the course receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal.
The event coincides with wider festivities, including a professional and amateur surfing contest and a student art pavilion located nearby. Packet pickup is scheduled for the Friday before the event at a local retail location on 21st Street, with a secondary pickup option available at the start line on the morning of the race.
Parking options for the event include a dedicated lot at 2nd Street near the starting area, as well as metered parking spaces on various cross streets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
