Clun Valley Trail Half Marathon
The Clun Valley Trail Half Marathon follows a rural trail route through the Clun Valley, taking runners into quiet woodland and across open hills and fields with wide countryside views. At this time of year, hillsides may be bright with yellow gorse.
The course is a proper trail route with hills, stiles, muddy paths, stream crossings, winding forestry trails and extensive single track. There are sections where the path closes in between trees and sections that open onto broad valley views. The route includes just over 2,000 feet of elevation.
The route is fully marked and marshalled, and there is no cut off time so participants may run, walk or pause as they wish. Chip timing is used and finishers receive a medal. One aid station is located around the halfway point offering water, sweets and salty potatoes. The event provides a travel mug with a hot or cold drink and there are hot and cold food and drink stalls by Stwff and Things.
Dogs are invited. There are 4 stiles to cross in the first and last mile and livestock will be present, so dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
