Clipston Trail Races
The Clipston Trail Races take place in the countryside surrounding Clipston, utilizing a mix of bridleways, footpaths, and minor country roads. The event is organized in partnership with the Clipston Recreation Field Trust to support the maintenance of local community facilities. Participants must be at least 17 years old on race day.
The course features rolling terrain with a total elevation gain of 237m. Starting from the Clipston Recreation Ground, the route heads uphill into the Northamptonshire countryside and passes through Kelmarsh. This event does not permit canicross participants because the routes cross multiple working farms.
Available distances include:
- Half Marathon: A long-distance trail following bridleways and minor roads with four water stations along the route.
- Country 5 Miler: A shorter loop through footpaths and bridleways down to Kelmarsh, featuring one water station.
Race administration occurs at the Clipston Recreation Ground, where participants collect their numbers and timing chips on the morning of the event. Organized as a cup-less event to reduce environmental impact, runners are required to bring their own reusable cups for use at water stations. Free parking is available for all participants in a field opposite the recreation ground. All finishers receive a medal and homemade cakes provided by the local village community.
