Event details
The Classic City Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Athens, GA. The event base is the Classic Center at 300 North Thomas Street, Athens, GA 30601. The program includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a marathon relay team event (2 to 4 people per team), and a Greek Life marathon relay (2 to 4 people per team). A marathon covers 26.2 miles in total; the marathon relay has three exchange points where teams transfer a race belt with a bib and timing chip.
Registration, course and awards
Marathon participants must be age 14 or older; half marathon participants must be age 10 or older. Registration prices increase after January 23, 2026. Packet pickup and the Expo are scheduled the day before the race at the Classic Center Grand Ballroom 8; on-race-day packet pickup, gear check and restrooms are available at the Classic Center Grand Ballroom 8. Runners registered by November 1, 2025 are guaranteed a shirt in their size.
The course description notes downhill sections leaving Athens and uphill sections returning to Athens, with additional hills along the route. The race course will remain open with full support for six hours; the finish line will remain open for seven hours with instructions to move to the sidewalk or side of the road to complete the race after course support is removed. Finisher medals are offered for half marathon, marathon and relay finishers, with an opt-out option. Awards are given in overall, masters (40+), grandmasters (50+), non-binary, and multiple age-group categories; relay team awards include top overall and top Greek Life team.
