Event overview
The Classic City Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Athens, GA. The event center is the Classic Center at 300 North Thomas Street; the starting line is at 510 North Thomas Street. The event includes these races:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Marathon Relay (2 - 4 people per team)
- Greek Life Marathon Relay (2 - 4 people per team)
Participants must be age 14 or older for the Marathon and age 10 or older for the Half Marathon.
Registration and logistics
Registration opens in defined periods with rising prices. For the November 1, 2025 to January 23, 2026 period the listed fees are Marathon $140 (plus processing), Half Marathon $115 (plus processing), and Marathon Relay $260 (plus processing). Expo packet pickup is scheduled Friday, January 23 at the Classic Center Grand Ballroom 8 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Race-day packet pickup, gear check, and restrooms are available at the Classic Center Grand Ballroom 8 with limited morning hours.
RegShield registration protection may be purchased during checkout. All participants registered by November 1, 2025 are guaranteed a shirt in their size; later registrations receive shirts while supplies last.
Course, support and awards
The course description notes downhill sections leaving Athens and uphill sections returning to Athens, with additional hills on the route. The race course will remain open with full support for six hours; the finish area remains open for seven hours. Relay teams use three exchange points and transfer a race belt with a timing chip at exchanges.
Finishers of the Marathon, Half Marathon, and Relay receive finisher medals unless they opt out. Awards are listed for overall, masters (40+), grandmasters (50+), non-binary, age-group places, and top relay teams including a top Greek Life relay.
