City to the Sea Run - event details
Cuesta College’s City to the Sea is a road running event held on October 18, 2026, in San Luis Obispo County, California. The event includes a half marathon and a 5K that use local roads and segments of the Bob Jones Trail, finishing at Avila Beach on the Pacific coast.
Distances:
- 13.1 miles : point to point, beginning in downtown San Luis Obispo and finishing at Avila Beach.
- 3.1 miles : coastal 5K with most of the route along beach and harbor views.
The Running Warehouse Half Marathon starts in downtown San Luis Obispo near 989 Chorro Street and follows a course that passes local landmarks, scenic country backroads, and the Bob Jones Trail before reaching the Pacific Ocean at Avila Beach. The Avila-Seaside 5K runs largely along the shoreline, with roughly 75% of the course offering beach and harbor views; the route briefly joins the Bob Jones Trail and finishes near the Avila Beach Resort. Wildlife such as sea lions, otters and whales may be visible from parts of the 5K course.
Registration is organized in tiers: Early Bird (May 10–May 31, 2026), General (June 1–August 30, 2026), and Last Chance (August 31–September 27, 2026), with published entry fees for each distance and period.
