Course and event features
The half marathon is a point-to-point course that begins in downtown San Luis Obispo, passes local landmarks and country backroads, runs along the Bob Jones Trail, and ends at the edge of the Pacific Ocean in Avila Beach. The Avila-Seaside 5K is an out-and-back route that uses part of the Bob Jones Trail and reports that about 75% of the course shows beach, harbor, and ocean views; wildlife such as sea lions, otters, and whales may be visible from the route.
