About the race
Mustang Showdown 2026 is a super sprint triathlon at Nipomo Highschool in Nipomo, California on October 18, 2026. The event includes age group/open and collegiate divisions and is presented by Cal Poly Triathlon. Race details and the schedule are listed as coming soon.
The age group and open division is described as approachable and intended as an introduction to triathlon. Shorter distances are used, and racers are seeded by swim and run times to manage flow in the pool and on course.
The course format begins with a 300 m swim, continues through transition to a bike leg consisting of three laps on a spectator-friendly loop, and finishes with a run on a safe, closed course. The looped bike course is intended to keep action close to spectators.
