About the race
The City of Westlake Community Run is the fourth annual event hosted by the Recreation Department in conjunction with the Annual Safety and Wellness Day. The event takes place on the Westlake Recreation Center grounds at 28955 Hilliard Blvd., Westlake, OH.
Distances offered include:
- 5K run and timed speed walk.
- 1 Mile untimed walk.
- Kids Dash 100 yards, free for children 8 years old and under.
The 5K and the Speed Walking division are chip timed; the 1 Mile is untimed. The Speed Walking division requires maintaining contact with the ground and straightening the leading leg when it makes contact until it passes under the body. All Kids Dash participants receive a race medal. Event goodie bags are guaranteed for the first 200 registered for the main run and walk. Race shirts are guaranteed for those who register and select a size by 8/31/26.
Participants receive post-race refreshments and fruit, and raffle prizes will be awarded. Awards include top overall male and female and the top three finishers in each age group for the 5K; age groups span from 10 and under through 80 and over. Speed Walk awards recognize the top three men and top three women overall with no age groups. A pancake breakfast follows the race; each paid registration includes a ticket, children 5 and under are free, and additional tickets are available for purchase. An inflatable and a DJ will be part of the event. The Safety and Wellness Fair is held at the Westlake Recreation Center and is hosted by University Hospitals and the City of Westlake.
