Event Overview
The City of Westlake Community Run is an event hosted by the Westlake Recreation Department, held in conjunction with the city's Annual Safety & Wellness Day. It takes place on the grounds of the Westlake Recreation Center.
Distances
The event offers multiple race options:
- A timed 5K Run/Walk
- A timed 5K Race Walk (Speed Walk)
- An untimed 1 Mile Walk
- A free Kids Dash for participants aged 8 and under
Event Details
The Kids Dash starts before the main events. The 5K and 1-mile events begin together. A race shirt is guaranteed for participants who register and select a size by a specified date. An event goodie bag is guaranteed for the first 200 registrants for the main run/walk. All Kids Dash participants receive a race medal.
Post-Race Activities
The event includes post-race refreshments, fruit, and a DJ booth for awards pick-up and raffle prize announcements. A pancake breakfast is held after the race, with a free ticket included with each paid registration; children aged 5 and under eat for free. The event also features an inflatable activity. Participants are encouraged to stay for the Safety & Wellness Fair, which starts later in the morning at the Westlake Recreation Center.
Registration and Awards
Registration opens on a specific date in June. Fees are listed for the 5K and 1-mile events, while children aged 5 and under can participate for free. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three 5K participants in each age group. Awards for the Speed Walk are given to the top three overall men and women.
