Shaker Lakes Hike and Run
The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes organizes a combined run and guided hike day on September 13, 2026, at Shaker Lakes Parklands in Cleveland, Ohio. The event includes road races and a range of guided hikes led by the Nature Center and partner groups.
Run events use chip timing and awards are given for top finishers. Cash awards of $100 go to the top overall male and female in both the 5k and the 10k. Cookie medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group for the 5k and 10k, and to the top three overall male and female in the 1-mile.
Distances included in the program:
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (chip-timed)
- 5k Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- 10k Run (6.2 miles)
- ADA Accessible 1-2 Mile Family Friendly Hike
- 5-6 Mile Gorge Hike (strenuous terrain)
- 4 Mile Rim of the Gorge Hike (moderate)
- 1-2 Mile Botany Hike (botanical interpretation)
Hikes vary in length, terrain, and difficulty from easy, ADA accessible family hikes to strenuous gorge hikes that include uneven footing and climbs. Some hikes are not recommended for children under 10; specific hikes list a $20 rate for ages 10 to 12. For many runs and some hikes, children ages 3 to 12 are charged $12.50; children under 2 are free. Most events open registration on February 27 and close August 17, with the botany hike opening later on June 19.
Leashed, well behaved dogs are permitted on hikes and runs if they remain near the back. Fundraising incentives refund entry fees and provide tiered rewards; 100% of donations support the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
